Bahamas Boat Theft Alert 2/15/08

Last night our Bahamian partner's 40 ft center cockpit triple outboard boat was stolen.

we heard others were taken as well. be alert and be advised.

Boat was recovered 20 miles north west of Nassau this morning. At same time a our partner boat was stolen a 40 ft midnight express was stolen, recovered in a very damaged condition. on site persons say " its wrecked".

In other crime news, police reported that sometime before 9 o’clock Friday night a white 44-foot vessel with three 250-hp outboard engines was stolen from the area of the Nassau Sailing Club.

Around 4am Saturday officers from the Elizabeth Estates police station who were on patrol in the Blue Water Cay area in the vicinity of Fox Hill Road south observed three men aboard a white 44-foot vessel acting suspiciously, Mr. Evans said.

The men fled upon seeing the police, however, the officers were able to apprehend two of them while the other escaped.

According to police reports, upon searching the vessel the officers found miscellaneous items including eight 55-gallon containers filled with gasoline, a supply of food and a number of clothing items.

The 26-year-old Podoleo Street resident and 25-year-old resident of Joan’s Heights west remain in police custody.

Our partner got his boat back late yesterday afternoon. . 4 boats were taken that night. one from old fort bay that belonged to someone who worked at the American embassy and the only reason our friend got his boat back is that they were looking for the other boat and found his, otherwise it would have been long gone. boat found adrift between andros and berrys. one of the engines is trashed but other than that, boat is in farily good shape.

be advised. this is a fairly large boat 40 feet, the other 3 were all in the 40 ft range as I understand.
