Hello everyone - I have wanted to find a good forum for people who love cruising to the Bahamas. I hope this forum takes off and gains support.

I have a 44 motor vessel and go over at least 5 times per season. We have visited many different places and enjoy all the islands from the tourist traps to the desolate locations. I would love to talk about cruising with other Bahamas fans.

Talk to you soon (I hope).

Hi everyone! Empty New member welcome

welcome Randy, we to are cruisers to the Bahamas and have been for more than 25 years.
We used to own a 46 ft sailboat but then switched to a 48 ft motoryacht. "Mc Kinna".
I started this business as a result of being stuck more than once in the Bahamas and needing
parts or help.

I am thankful to have met my friends and associates Brooks and Ryan, who are
the Bahamian guys who are on the other end.

So far we have had more than one luxury motoryacht call us.

I started this forum to have a central place for people to meet and share information and
experience.

Again, thanks for being here. We really appreciate it.

Nice to meet you and I really hope the forum takes off. It would be awesome for everyone to meet and exchange information.

Our next trip is July 11 and we are thinking about a day excursion to Double Breasted Cay. That place is like a dream, one of the most beautiful places on earth. We would need to go through the Lucayan Waterway and I don't know if it is navigable now, do you? If you don't know, do you know someone to ask?

Thanks and we'll be in touch. My boat is the Odyssey.

Hi everyone! Empty Lucayan Waterway

Post  Admin Thu Jun 05, 2008 3:57 pm

The bridge if my memory serves me correctly is 27 ft.

We havent been through the waterway in a couple of years. The bay side is very skinny depth wise
but if you plan your exit on high tide we had no problem getting through we even saw larger boats.
a 61 ft tollycraft coming in as we were outbound. The waterway also gets very narrow channel wise
towards the end. but as said it was quite passable. There was a range marker on the bayside.

I cant speak to recent conditions because I havent been. choosing to cruise the exumas
and harbour island instead.

Harbor Island.... i love going into town and eating the conch salad at the the road side stand (extra hot) and having cold Kalik Golds, then watching the sunset at Harbor Island Marina.

Exuma ..... playing with the sharks at Compass Cay Marina. you can see a penny at the bottom of the marina, that's how clear the water is.

can i post pictures on the forum?

I wish I knew how to tell you to do that but I dont see any indication that can be done here.
